COLUMBIANA -- The search is on for a new high school principal in the Crestview Local School District.
District Superintendent Dan Hill said that applications for the position will be accepted until Friday, May 3.
The board of education accepted the resignation of current high school principal Gregory Woolman during this month's regular meeting.
Woolman has accepted a position with the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center. His resignation is effective at the end of this school year.
"He has been an asset to Crestview as a principal and teacher for 13 years. We wish him well and hope he stays involved at Crestview," Hill said after the meeting.
In other matters, the board also approved a resolution to accept the resignation of Richard Gates as varsity boy's head basketball coach and authorize a settlement agreement.
Gates was working on a two-year supplemental contract as head coach effective for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons.
On April 10, he voluntarily resigned his position for the 2024-25 season.
According to the resolution, Gates will receive the full amount of his supplemental contract.
The district stated in the resolution that it is appreciative of Gates' dedication to the position and service to the school district.
Also during the meeting, the board heard reports from elementary and middle school principals regarding successful fund raising campaigns throughout the district.
Elementary principal Allison Lemaster reported that the Read-A-Thon raised more than $8,000 for the elementary school, while middle school principal Tim Pancake reported that $10,600 has been raised for middle school robotics.
Pancake also reported that the Diamond Group Fundraising has ended for the spring with a total of $13,960 raised.
Other matters approved by the board were:
-- Granting a three year limited administrative contract and fringe benefits package for transportation/warehouse supervisor Annette VanHorn, effective July 1 through June 30, 2027.
-- One year limited contracts for Caryle Buck, Custodian, and Jody Sayers, middle school and high school Cafeteria Cashier.
-- Supplemental contracts for Megan Shaffer, Madison LaCivita, and Alaina Kissinger for the 2024 Summer School Program.
-- A supplemental contract for Aaron Blatch, high school varsity head girls basketball coach.
-- Supplemental contracts for Diane Campbell, eighth grade volleyball coach; Drew Feren, seventh grade volleyball coach; Sarah Finch, varsity assistant volleyball coach; and David MacKay, eighth grade girls basketball coach.
-- Pupil activity contracts for Ethan Blatch, high school Varsity Assistant Girls Basketball Coach; Jonathan Gallagher, high school Varsity Assistant Girls Basketball Coach; Kasey Landsberger , high school Junior Varsity Volleyball Coach; Gretchen Olsen, high school Costume Designer/Choreographer; and Cassandra Spaite, high school Junior Varsity Girls Basketball Coach.
-- Matthew Beatty, Tyler Mellott and Nichole VanHorn as substitute custodians.
-- Participation in the Sedgwick 2025 Group Worker's Compensation Group Retrospective Program through Dec. 31, 2025 at a cost of $475.
-- The revised appropriations and Certificate of Estimated Resources for fiscal year ended June 30, 2024.
-- The sale of excess dirt from construction excavation.
-- A resolution proclaiming the week of May 6-10, 2024 as Teacher Appreciation Week.
-- A resolution proclaiming May 3 as school lunch hero day.
The next meeting was set for 5 p.m. May 8.
