For many Salem area residents the Salem Super Cruise has become an annual family affair, and this is the case for Alan Dattilio and his 5-year-old son Nathan, whose revised valve cover racer successfully took first in this year’s “street” bracket after narrowly coming up short in the semifinals of last year’s valve cover racing bracket. While the Salem Super Cruise as a whole celebrates all aspects of automotive and hot-rodding culture, the annual antique car show at Centennial Park celebrates the elders of the classic car world such as Don Mason’s 1947 Chrysler Royal, with original paint and interior and only 38,000 miles.
