Body of missing person found near Highlandtown Lake

HIGHLANDTOWN — The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) contacted the Calcutta Volunteer Fire Department Tuesday night requesting the use of K9 Solace, the fire department’s search and rescue and recently certified cadaver dog for help in a search and rescue operation for a missing person.
According to the Calcutta Volunteer Fire Department, the person’s car was found after possibly sitting for about eight days.
Involved in the operation was Highlandtown Volunteer Fire Department supplying manpower and its side-by-side; Hanover Township Volunteer Fire Department providing drone service; Ohio’s Special Response Team providing a command center, K9s and personnel; Calcutta Volunteer Fire Department providing the search and rescue/cadaver K9 who located the body of the missing person; and ODNR who headed up the search and recovery since the which took place on state game land near Highlandtown Lake
The identity of the body nor the cause of death have been released yet.
