The area’s youth even are helping with fundraising. The group of four girls made bracelets, which were sold at Joshua Dixon Elementary and Columbiana High School basketball games and even at Saturday’s Columbiana Project Playground design reveal event in Birdfish Brewery. COLUMBIANA -- The non-profit overseeing the construction project for a new playground in Firestone Park unveiled its vision Saturday afternoon at a fundraising event at Birdfish Brewery.
With $100,000 under its collective belt, Columbiana Project Playground announced the need to raise another $1.25 million to meet its goal.
According to the vision boards and video unveiled at the event, the playground will include the main structure; activity stations, including a market cafe; a variety of lids and tunnels; a picnic area, STEM panels; outdoor musical instruments like a drum set and metallophone; wheelchair accessible swing and merry-go-round.
During Saturday's event, Columbiana Project Playground vice president Stephanie Kale explained she is particularly excited about the inclusivity, as someone with a family member wheelchair dependent.
Establishment of a maintenance fund for $50,000 also is planned.
Good acknowledged the following donations publicly during the event: The Bradford and Pat Tingle Foundation, Birdfish Brewing, Greg and Ann Gustafson as well as Mark and Michele Pease.
She also thanked Deborah Firestone Hines, whom she described as the group's "biggest cheerleader," the Columbiana Community Foundation and Sitler the Printer.
