Perry Township
— Officers responded to the 1300 block of Pembrooke Drive at 1:22 a.m. Sunday for a report of a person who had been trespassed attempting to break into the residence. Officers found that Jeffrey Steffel, 43, Salem, had broken through the back door and was holding it shut refusing orders. Officers were able to enter the residence where Steffel continued to refuse orders to exit and had to be escorted out of the evidence while continuing to resist and pull away from officers. Officers ultimately took Steffel into custody and transported him to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 1300 block of Pembrooke Drive at 12:52 a.m. Sunday for an intoxicated person to be removed. Officers were advised that the person left and filled out a trespass notice.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Maryland Avenue at 4:57 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the woman who advised that she was okay and didn’t need anything.
— Officers responded to the area of state Route 45 and Georgetown Road at 4:02 p.m. Saturday for a reported reckless operator. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
— Venkata Vadapalli, 41, Novi, Michigan, was cited for failure to yield after his southbound vehicle on Cunningham Road failed to yield from a stop sign striking a vehicle driven eastbound by Michael Hile, 63, Colorado Springs, Colorado, at 9:05 a.m. Saturday.
— Officers responded to the area of state Route 45 and East Pigeon Road at 11:23 p.m. Friday for a reported reckless operator. Officers spoke with the person in question, advising them of the complaint and did not observe any impairment.
— Kisha Leland, 18, Salem, was cited for reasonable control after her vehicle went over the embankment of the U.S. Route 62 dead end at 10:19 p.m. Friday.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 2:34 p.m. Thursday for a reported intoxicated disorderly man. Officers could hear the man, Lucas Ludwig, 39, Akron, yelling at the store clerk as he stormed out of the business. He was very unstable on his feet and had an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his person. Ludwig was trespassed from the business and cited for disorderly conduct.
— Officers responded to Goshen Road Near Colonial Drive at 6:16 a.m. Thursday for a vehicle rollover. Both occupants were transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Youngstown by EMT.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of Liberty Street at 11:21 p.m. May 27 for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the parties involved and were advised that everything was okay.
— Officers responded to a business on East Pigeon Road at 2:55 p.m. May 27 for a report of an unwanted person. Officers spoke with the manager who advised that the person was cussing while walking around the store and alarming other customers and that it was the third time this had occurred. The person was trespassed from the store and notified that if she went back, she would be arrested for trespassing.
— The fire department responded to the 1200 block of North Union Avenue at 10:23 a.m. May 27, for a report of a propane truck that was on fire. Officers blocked the roadway and stood by while the fire was extinguished.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 100 block of Hawley Avenue at 5:04 a.m. Wednesday for a reported burglary. The caller advised that he had gotten home from work at around 4 a.m. and found that his front door was unlocked. The caller advised that nobody else lived at the residence, but about $60 worth of miscellaneous change had been taken. The caller advised that nobody else lives in the residence nor has access to it, and that they believed that someone may have used a credit card to pry open the door. Officers advised that a report would be on file and advised him to contact the department if anything else comes up missing.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department regarding a fraudulent tax return at 3:41 a.m. Wednesday. The caller advised that he was currently going through marital problems and that she had threatened to turn him into the IRS for making a false claim on their tax return involving dependents and that he had already amended the claim with the IRS but wanted to document this issue with the department.
— Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 400 block of East State Street at 2:44 a.m. Wednesday, citing Juan Lopez-Barrera, 30, Salem, for speeding and driving without a license.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of North Howard Avenue at 10:56 p.m. Tuesday for a reported warrant check. Officers spoke with the man in question Dylan Conway, 24, Salem, taking him into custody and transporting him to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Newgarden Avenue at 8:52 p.m. Tuesday for a report of someone standing on the railroad tracks. Two juveniles were located playing around the tracks and were advised to stay away from the tracks for their safety. They left and walked home.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of West State Street at 7:42 p.m. Tuesday for a reported alarm. Officers checked the building and all doors were secure.
