Hearing set for former officer charged with domestic violence charges

LISBON -- A hearing originally scheduled for next week in the domestic violence case against former Liverpool Township police chief Jayson Jackson has been moved to 10:30 a.m. Aug. 5.

Dates for both the status conference that was set for July 10 and the jury trial that was scheduled for July 16 have been bumped to August due to a change in the court's schedule in Columbiana County Municipal Court.

The jury trial is now set for 8:30 a.m. Aug. 13 before Judge Kelly Linger.

Jackson, 52, who resides in Liverpool Township, remains out of jail under a $20,000 cash or surety bond for the first-degree misdemeanor charge.

According to a Liverpool Township Police report, Liverpool Township police officers were called at 1:14 a.m. Dec. 4, 2024 to Jackson's residence by a juvenile who reported adults fighting. Upon arrival, officers were met by a juvenile who was asked to have an adult come to the door.

A woman then spoke to officers who allegedly said Jackson choked her and gave her a bloody nose.

Officers then made contact with Jackson in a bedroom and asked him what was going on. He advised nothing was going on and they had both been drinking.

Jackson served as a police officer and then chief for many years before leaving law enforcement sometime between late December 2021 and early January 2022.
