Crestview principals receive new contracts
COLUMBIANA — New three-year contracts were approved for building principals in the Crestview Local School District for the coming years.
The board of education approved the contracts during the regular August meeting.
The limited contracts and fringe benefit packages were approved for high school principal Caleb Crowl, assistant principal Laura Nappi, and middle school principal Timothy Pancake.
Crowl’s contract is for 235 days while Nappi and Pancake’s are for 215 days, and all are effective Aug. 1, 2026 through July 31, 2029.
“We were just looking at extending those for the job they are doing,” District Superintendent Daniel Hill said when contacted after the meeting, adding that the salary structure is already in place through administrative guidelines and the new contracts include salaries that are only slightly adjusted to go along with that schedule.
In his report to the board, Crowl said that the class of 2029 is currently at 97 students enrolled and that students participating in College Credit Plus will have the option to come into the building to do their school work.
“Some students choose to come only for their in person classes then go home to work on their CCP classes,” he said in his report.
There are 25 students enrolled at the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center for a whole day and an additional 42 enrolled for a half day, he said.
He also said there are 80 students who are taking at least one CCP class for college credit.
On another matter the board also approved a supplemental contract for Transportation Supervisor Annette VanHorn to serve as transportation supervisor for East Palestine schools as well.
“Annette is part of some shared services with our neighbors,” Hill said, referring to both Columbiana and East Palestine school districts. “We are all helping each other with sub drivers and mechanic work already. Annette is very good at what she does, and they need some support.”
Hill said Crestview and East Palestine officials met to see how to align and make it work for this year and then make decisions for future needs in the spring of 2026.
“Dr. James Rook and Mr. Rick Ellis have been very good to work with in this process,” he said of East Palestine District Superintendent Rook and Treasurer Ellis.
“We’re all just being good neighbors and building those relationships that help us all in need,” he said.
