Nov. 4 general election issues

LISBON — A whopping 34 issues have been filed for inclusion on the Nov. 4 general election ballot in Columbiana County.

The lengthy list includes two new tax levies, with Washingtonville seeking a 2.5-mill, five-year additional police levy to raise $26,100 per year and the village of New Waterford seeking a 2-mill, five-year additional road levy to raise $34,400 per year.

Local liquor options seeking placement on the ballot include: Garwood Arena LLC in the Fairfield Township Center precinct, one for Monday through Saturday sales and one for Sunday sales; Rockbar LLC doing business as The Foundry in the Salem 2A precinct, Sunday sales; Moose Lodge 467, East Palestine, 2 precinct, Sunday sales; and Moose Lodge 112, East Liverpool, 3B precinct, Sunday sales.

The remaining 27 issues in Columbiana County are all renewals. Renewals being sought for 10 years include Salem city school district, 3.7-mill emergency levy, and Columbiana County Mental Health, 0.3-mill levy.

Renewals being sought for five years include:

Butler Township, 3.5-mill road levy

Center Township, 1.5-mill road levy and 0.5-mill fire levy

Columbiana County Senior Citizens Services, 0.5-mill levy

East Palestine City Schools, 0.5 % earned income tax levy

East Liverpool City, 2-mill Carnegie Public Library levy and 2-mill parks levy

Elkrun Township, 2-mill levy for roads, bridges, general construction

Franklin Township, 1.6-mill road levy

Hanover Township, 1-mill road levy

Leetonia School District, 3.27-mill operating levy

Madison Township, 6.32-mill fire levy and 1-mill road levy

Middleton Township, 2-mill road levy

Perry Township, 1-mill police levy

Salem Township, 0.9-mill road levy and 1-mill fire levy

Summitville, 0.5-mill parks & recreation levy

Unity Township, 2-mill road levy and 1.5-mill fire levy

Washington Township, 0.5-mill road levy

Wellsville, 7-mill fire levy and 1-mill current expenses levy

West Township, 1-mill road levy

Yellow Creek Township, 1-mill road levy

In Mahoning County, Goshen Township is seeking a 5.7-mill replacement police levy and Beloit is seeking two renewals, with one for 5 mills for current expenses and one for 1.5 mills for parks.

In Smith Township, Precinct 2, local liquor options are being sought by Rock’s Drive Thru, Harrisburg Westfield Road for spirituous liquor and Sunday wine and mixed beverages.
