Demolition of the former Red Barn building at 763 E. State St., which previously served as the home of Josie’s Pizza, began Monday morning. The concrete slab on which the building stood will also be removed with the property set to be used for a mixture of public parking and additional green space as an expansion of Lincoln Plaza. The demolition of the property and preparation for the city’s use was included in its $450,000 purchase price which was authorized by city council on April 24 with the specification that price be paid using privately donated funds which were stipulated for that purpose.
