SALEM–Firefighters responded to a fire at an East Euclid Street business Thursday morning.

Firefighters responded to a ceiling fire at Quaker City Castings at 8:39 a.m. Thursday. According to the fire report, when firefighters arrived, heavy smoke was observed coming from the roof and a two-and-one quarter inch attack line was deployed and taken into the structure to extinguish the fire. A ladder to the roof was then deployed and a roof division was established to ventilate the area above the fire, with active fire found on the roof under the membrane.

Fire inspector Rob North said that nobody was injured by the fire, and the report states that it was contained to the floor of origin. The fire was under control at 8:59 a.m. The Damascus, Green Township, and Perry Township Fire Departments responded for mutual aid.
