Editor’s note: Following is a release from Joe Vitko announcing his candidacy for Lisbon Village Council:
Political newcomer Joe Vitko, 27, is promising to bring a fresh perspective to Lisbon if elected as councilman in November.
“Lisbon deserves leadership that listens, acts and gets results,” said Vitko, who works as a real estate agent and auctioneer. “I believe in addressing issues quickly and efficiently, making timely sensible decisions rather than letting them drag on for months.”
A member of the village’s Planning Commission since 2023, Vitko said that one of his priorities is protecting the village’s residential areas.
“Well-maintained homes not only keep our residents safe, they also help preserve the charm and integrity of our neighborhoods,” he said.
He said he supports “reasonable regulations on rental homes to ensure safety for tenants and protect neighboring properties.”
Vitko holds an Associate Degree in business from Youngstown State University and has been employed by Dangerfield Auctions since 2015. He received his auctioneer license in 2018 and his real estate license in 2022.
“Lisbon is a historic village with a lot of potential, and it needs someone to willing to unlock that potential,” he said in a statement. “My focus is on practical solutions that improve our quality of life and move Lisbon forward.”
Vitko is married to his wife, Autumn.
