CCCTC will graduate 40 nursing students

LISBON — The Columbiana County Career and Technical Center will be graduating 40 students from its Practical Nursing program in the coming weeks.

The CCCTC Board of Education was presented with an update on the Adult Education department in August and also invited to attend the graduation ceremony on Sept. 11.

There are currently 30 students enrolled in the Practical Nursing program for the new school year.

According to information provided by CCCTC Public Relations Co-Coordinator Elizabeth Wright a part-time Practical Nursing program is set to begin in the evenings in April 2026.

She added that the LPN to RN program currently has 10 students enrolled and the career center is still accepting enrollment until Sept. 9.

Furthermore, she said that the LPN to RN program that began in April 2025 is still in session and has 43 students enrolled.

Current enrollment figures for fall programs include 10 students in the Certified Clinical Medical Assisting program, eight students in the welding program, and 10 students in the Police Academy.

The board of education was also provided with an update on the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant program.

There are now four certifications offered in the 9-month program allowing students to graduate with their CNA, Phlebotomy, EKG, and CCMA national certifications.

Also during the board meeting, the board was introduced to new employees Mark Giesler, high school social studies instructor; Heather Randel, adult education student services coordinator; and Gavin Whitman, technology department.

Wright said that Whitman is a graduate of the former Information Techology Academy Program, now known as the Cybersecurity and Information Technology program.

“As someone who has had to call on him several times already this year, I can attest he is doing a great job,” Wright said.

CCCTC Superintendent Jeremy Corbisello said in his report to the board that the Ohio School Boards Association has named board member Brian Moore of East Palestine a recipient of the 2025 Aptitude Award.

Corbisello noted that only 55 of more than 3,400 board members in Ohio are presented with this award.

Moore will be recognized at the Northeast Region Fall Conference on Oct. 1 in Wadsworth.

The next CCCTC board meeting was set for 7 p.m. Sept. 16.

Starting at $2.99/week.
