Columbiana council delays action on CRA with Milo Land
COLUMBIANA — City council temporarily delayed further action on a Community Revitalization Agreement between Columbiana and Milo Land LLC.
During Tuesday’s meeting, city manager Lance Willard recommended members table the second reading of the resolution authorizing him from entering into the agreement until proper authorization is made to the other entities affected by the CRA.
Council agreed to table it until a future meeting.
Per the CRA abatement agreement, Milo Land LLC seeks to develop a commercial project broken down into two phases: a 6,500-square-foot plaza and a 9,000-square-foot commercial building in the vicinity of Town Center Avenue.
Thus the CRA would impact the tax collections of both the Columbiana Exempted School District and the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center School District.
Estimates put the total investment by Milo at $4.5 million with the work beginning in fall. The total project is expected to be completed by 2027.
Milo expects to create 75 full-time and 30 part-time jobs
The city would grant Milo a 75 percent exemption for 10 years once the agreement is approved. The 75 percent exemption only applies to the difference in property value after the work is completed.
In other action, administrators expressed hope of having a street superintendent nomination for next meeting.
The city will hold its trick o’ treat from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, closing Elm Street from Prospect to West Salem.
Council is next set to meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16 in city council chambers.
