Stadium renovations complete at West Branch

Renovations have been completed at Clinton Heacock Stadium with the installation of a new turf field featuring a bold green and white “WB” logo at midfield, new goal posts and state-of-the-art LED lighting. The renovations were completed over the summer by Vasco Sports Contractors, and Musco Sports Lighting LLC, who were awarded the contract in a May 7 special meeting and due to the generosity of six community donors these upgrades were made at no cost to taxpayers. BELOIT — The West Branch School District’s renovations at Clinton Heacock Stadium have been completed.

First discussed in February, the renovation project saw the installation of a new turf football field and facility upgrades including new goal posts and LED lighting at the stadium and was completed over the summer by contractors Vasco Sports Contractors, and Musco Sports Lighting LLC. These upgrades came at no cost to district taxpayers as six donors covered the costs of the renovation rather than money from the district’s general fund.

“This project is a shining example of what can be accomplished when our community comes together to invest in the future of West Branch,” said Superintendent Micki Egli. “We are deeply grateful to the donors who made this possible. Thanks to their generosity, our students will benefit from a facility that enhances school spirit, provides expanded opportunities, and demonstrates the strength of our Warrior community.”

The field has already hosted its first football game with the Warriors 21-13 victory over the New Philadelphia Quakers in the district’s first home game of the season Friday. According to a press release, the new field will benefit more than just the football program and will “provide expanded practice and competition opportunities for other sports, including soccer, baseball, and softball.”

The district is also set to hold its annual Back-2-School Bash between the high school and the stadium from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 19 and “welcomes students, families, and supporters for food, fun, and activities celebrating the start of a new school year.” Following the bash the warriors will take to the new field for the second time against the Warren Howland High School Tigers and “fans of all ages are encouraged to attend the Back-2-School Bash, cheer on the Warriors, and experience this exciting new chapter in West Branch athletics.”

The bash will also feature a “variety of fun and family-friendly activities, with support from West Branch student groups, staff, and community partners” including treats from Raising Cane’s, Dudley’s G’s Pizza World, Texas Roadhouse, and Kona Ice; inflatables sponsored by All for Fun, and an educational birds of prey exhibit. Families will also be able to connect with Staples which has partnered with the district to help “kick off the new school year.”

“There’s something really special about our Back-2-School Bash. It’s a chance for families to come together, celebrate the start of a new school year, and feel the strength of our West Branch community,” said Egli. “Kicking off the year with connection and school spirit sets the tone for everything that follows. We’re proud to offer this free event, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back and cheer on the Warriors together.”
