CCBDD announces holiday activities for clients

LISBON — Columbiana County Board of Developmental Disabilities (CCBDD) Superintendent Bill Devon announced during the CCBDD board meeting on Wednesday several holiday activities scheduled for clients.

A Halloween Dance will be held Oct. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. and an Abilities Unite Winter Wonderland event which the board approved sponsorship of $5,000 as a Saint Nick sponsor during the meeting. The event will be held at Waypoint 4180 in Canfield. It will be an all-day event with specific times to be announced closer to the date.

The second Annual Abilities Unite Legacy Gala was canceled due to a low response rate. Board members speculated the low rate was due to the event being on a Friday evening and competing with high school football games.

There was no old business from the board or the superintendent and no new business from the board.

Under new business from the superintendent, the board approved 12 items.

Items approved include the purchase of new Microsoft Office Suite for 150 licenses at a cost of $13, 801.50; funding the Family Support in the amount of $65,000; a sponsorship for the Abilities Unite Winter Wonderland in the amount of $5,000; the sale of a 2011 Ford Fusion “as is” and declare it obsolete, no longer needed and valued under $2,500; the creation of new nursing position/nursing support specialist and the index that establishes the pay rate for the position, the creation of a management index for language development specialist, the reformation of the SSA team lead position created on Sept. 10 with the addition of a team lead addendum to service and support administer.

Additionally, they approved the adoption of the resolution to adopt the Special Education Model Policies and Procedures released by the State of Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (DEW) in December 2024.

Devon noted the policies were released in 2024, but the agency had until December 2025 to adopt them.

The board opted to go with the company after reviewing five submitted bids and finding Legacy Land Pros to be the least costly company and company most adequate to meet their needs.
