LISBON — Columbiana County 4-H invites the community to “an evening of exploration, creativity and inspiration” with a community engaging and educational event on Nov. 4.

The 4-H Project Exploration Open House will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the OSU Extension Office, located at 7989 Dickey Drive in Lisbon.

“The 4-H Project Exploration Open House event was created to help families understand the vast number of projects and opportunities available to them in 4-H,” said Audrey Dimmerling, 4-H Youth Development Educator. “4-H has over 250 projects available for youth to explore. We wanted families to have the opportunity to learn from our own county youth, who have previously taken on a variety of projects.”

According to the OSU Extension Columbiana County Office, the free, hands-on evening is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the exciting world of 4-H, view past project displays created by Columbiana County youth, and browse real project books to help find the perfect fit for every child’s unique interests and sparks.

The experience features a scavenger hunt where guests can explore over 250 4-H projects.

“Families will have time to participate in the scavenger hunt through the Ohio 4-H Project Guide where they may be sparked to explore a new project they previously did not know was available,” Dimmerling said.

Families, youth, and community members are encouraged to attend.

“4-H is an exciting opportunity for youth ages 5-18,” Dimmerling said, explaining the unity, camaraderie and character-building benefits participation in 4-H provides.

“4-H brings community and families together to learn and explore. Youth build lifelong friendships, learn new skills, build leadership, explore new opportunities, and receive recognition that showcases their achievements. There is something for everyone in 4-H ”

4-H programs foster personal interests and individual talents through a wide-range of projects which include leadership, food and nutrition, animal sciences, money management, clothing, gardening, personal development and various STEM related projects.

“Whether your child loves animals, cooking, science, art, robotics, or community service, there’s a 4-H project waiting for them,” the OSU Extension Office said. “Volunteers and 4-H members will be available to answer questions and help families get started for the 2026 4-H year.”

Over 700 youth currently are involved in 4-H in Columbiana County. For more information or to enroll in the Columbiana County 4-H, call the OSU Extension office at 330-424-7291 or visit columbiana.osu.edu.
