Former Leetonia school bus driver sentenced for voyeurism

LISBON — A former bus driver accused of watching a female student changing in the Leetonia girls locker room on April 1, 2024 must serve 60 days of electronically monitored house arrest and register as a sex offender.

Scott Andre, 49, Chestnut Street, Extension, Leetonia, appeared for a disposition hearing in Columbiana County Municipal Court Thursday for the misdemeanor voyeurism charge.

He pleaded no contest and was found guilty, then was sentenced by Judge Tim McNicol.

Besides the house arrest, he was fined $500 and received a suspended 60-day jail term. He was ordered to complete 20 hours community service and to have no contact with the victim, who was 12 years old at the time of the incident.

He was designated a Tier 1 sex offender, requiring him to register his information with the sheriff’s office of the county where he resides, annually for 15 years.

The criminal case wasn’t filed until May this year, but Andre was fired in February this year from his job as a Leetonia school bus driver.

According to the affidavit filed by Leetonia Police: “On or about April 1, 2024, Scott Andre did, with the purpose of viewing another person’s (12-year-old female student) private areas, walk into and remain in the girl’s locker room after being told not to go in as a female was changing, and did watch that female remove her top, viewing her mid section and upper body.”

According to a previous published report, Andre had been placed on paid administrative leave earlier this year pending an investigation into alleged misconduct, then was dismissed by the school district in February following a disciplinary hearing on Feb. 13.

Andre was also terminated as the head softball coach, a position he had been appointed to in July 2024. He had been a bus driver with the Leetonia school district for three years.

Starting at $2.99/week.
