Salem Utilities Commission meeting rescheduled

SALEM – The utilities commission’s October meeting Thursday has been rescheduled.

The utilities commission originally agreed Sept. 25 to meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, an hour earlier than usual, at the city’s wastewater treatment plant rather than in city council chambers.

The commissioners made that change to accommodate a public open house at the plant that was planned to follow the meeting and include tours of the plant’s upgrades, with Commission Chairman Bob Hodgson noting that he felt it was important to ensure residents were aware of the scope and impacts of those upgrades and how they would make it more efficient.

However, Utilities Superintendent Butch Donnalley announced Saturday that the commission’s meeting Thursday will instead be held at city council chambers in its usual 3 p.m. time slot. Donnalley also said that the open house was being postponed with a new date to be announced at a later date.

Starting at $2.99/week.
