The Salem Police Department’s Juvenile Officer Samantha Collins spent the day at the high school Wednesday educating students on the safe operation of scooters and e-bikes, and the traffic laws that all riders need to know. Police Chief J.T. Panezott said that the educational session was a joint venture between the police department and the school district, noting that the department and the district meet to discuss any issues on a regular basis, and “both realized the need.” Panezott also said that Collins would be going back to the high school to speak with the students again in spring.
