LISBON — An East Liverpool man found guilty of assault in Columbiana County Municipal Court recently filed a notice of appeal to challenge his conviction.

Wayne Eugene Reed, 61, Northside Avenue, was found guilty during a trial to the court before Judge Tim McNicol, fined $250 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 175 days suspended and credit for two days served, leaving a balance of three days he had to serve in jail.

He was also ordered to complete 20 hours community service and to have no contact with the victim. He was accused of hitting another man in the face at Thompson Park in East Liverpool on Sept. 13.

Defense attorney Zachary Miller filed the notice of appeal with the Seventh District Court of Appeals, with a question raised on whether the guilty verdict was supported by the evidence.
