Health board approves new fees for pools, campgrounds and tattoo facilities

LISBON — The Columbiana County Health District Board recently approved the new fees for pools, campgrounds and tattoo/body art facilities for 2026, with the cost for some licenses slightly increasing and some slighting decreasing.

The board had already conducted two readings on the fees and held a public hearing, then voted on the third reading to approve the new fees, with the food, camp and pool program fees taking effect Feb. 1 and body art program fees taking effect Jan. 1.

The new food service fees, by risk level and size, not including a $28 portion that goes to the Ohio Department of Health, include (showing the current rate first, then the new rate): commercial under 25,000 square feet, risk level 1, $200 decreasing to $208, risk level 2, $229 to $235, risk level 3, $446 to $454, risk level 4, $559 to $576; commercial 25,000 square feet and over, risk level 1, $303 to $303, risk level 2, $320 to $319, risk level 3, $1,213 to $1,142, risk level 4, $1,288 to $1,211.

The mobile fee decreased from $133 to $131, with the low risk mobile fee decreasing from $66 to $65.50. Temporary event fees increased from $124 to $138. The vending fee, which is also based on the previous year’s consumer price index, increased from $13 to $13.37. The state fee for vending licenses is $6.

Other new fees include: camps under 50 sites, $628 (current fee $357); camps over 50 sites, $625 (current fee $357); cost for each site over 50, $4 (current fee $6); temporary less than 50 sites, $287 (current fee $293); temporary over 50 sites, $287 (current fee $293); each temporary site over 50, $46 (current $3); pool, $758 (current fee $546); special use pool, $352 (current fee $278); spa $200 (current fee $213); body art combined $587 (current fee $598); and time limited body art event, $81 (current fee $299).

Health Services Administrator Amanda Amato reported that “we’re starting to see an increase in our respiratory illnesses.”

She said the health district has the flu vaccine available and also a limited number of COVID test kits, limited to two per household while they last. Call the office at 330-424-0272 to schedule an appointment for a flu shot.

Kevin Summerville, registered environmental health specialist, reported that the district may be receiving another $50,000 next year from the Water Pollution Control Loan Fund for septic system installations.

He also updated board members on the status of a septic system situation at a property on Pancake Clarkson Road, saying the contractor called and said funding to replace the septic system was secured.

In other business, the board approved the Lawrence County EPI agreement for the county to provide Lawrence County with epidemiology service for $11,250 for six months, approved a cyber security policy and approved a Steubenville plumbing agreement for 12 months for $400 per day plus mileage for one day per week.

Official certificates reduced were food service for $19,944 and health & safety for $6,656.

The next meeting of the board will be held at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 21 at the health district building, state Route 45, Lisbon.
