Wreaths Across America ceremony held at Damascus Cemetery

Dr. Nick Welch of Salem, a veteran of the war in Iraq, solemnly placed wreaths.
Family members and supporters honored veterans.
Ignoring the cold, these pairs of siblings were eager to help out. Shown are 10-year-old Connor Wolfgang, 5-year-old William Bahr, 5-year-old Cameron Wolfgang and 9-year-old Maxwell Bahr.

Veterans, families and volunteers gathered on a frigid afternoon last Saturday at the Damascus Cemetery on Valley Road.

The Xterra Health Foundation hosted a Wreaths Across America ceremony, joining communities across the nation in honoring and remembering the men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States.

Supporters placed wreaths placed on the graves of veterans, spoke their names aloud and ensured their sacrifices are never forgotten. By removing the financial barrier to medical evidence, the Xterra Health Foundation helps veterans reconnect to healthcare, financial security, family stability and the belief that their service still matters.
