CCJ inmate charged with escape
LISBON — A Columbiana County jail inmate already facing numerous charges for possession of a deadly weapon, vandalism, drugs and criminal damaging can add third-degree felony escape to the list.
Bradley Cianni, 39, last known address Riverside Avenue, Wellsville, made an initial appearance via video Friday in county Municipal Court for the escape charge, with a preliminary hearing now scheduled for Jan. 14. Bond was set at $5,000 cash or surety.
Cianni had been taken to East Liverpool City Hospital for medical treatment on Tuesday from the jail, with an electronic tracking device attached to him. A county sheriff’s office report said he was admitted and told if he left the hospital grounds, he would be charged with escape.
At 2:25 a.m. Thursday, East Liverpool City Hospital notified the sheriff’s office that Cianni removed the electronic tracking monitor and left the hospital in a wheelchair with an IV and a gown, according to the sheriff’s report. He was later caught the same day and placed back in jail, where he had been since being arrested Dec. 27, 2025 on a bench warrant.
Cases pending against Cianni include one for possession of a deadly weapon while under detention, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly possessing a cane with a blade inside on April 23, 2025 while under detention. Another case involves a fifth-degree felony vandalism charge and two counts misdemeanor criminal damaging for allegedly damaging a sink and a mattress while he was an inmate at the county jail on July 16, 2025.
The other two cases involve drugs. He’s facing charges of fifth-degree felony aggravated possession of drugs and misdemeanors of illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drug abuse instruments for allegedly possessing methamphetamine, paraphernalia and drug abuse instruments such as syringes on Sept. 11, 2024. He was charged with aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly possessing methamphetamine on Feb. 15, 2025.
