Grant to help CCCTC expand machining program
LISBON — A state grant awarded to the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center will help expand the machining program.
Adult Education Director Jenna Fox shared the news during the career center board of education meeting in January.
She said the Adult Education Department received a Center for Training Excellence (CTX) Customized training grant that will be used to expand the machining program and strengthen community and employer partnerships.
The board accepted the grant funding in the amount of $25,000 during the meeting. The grant program is administered by the Ohio Department of Higher Education.
“We are very appreciative of the grant and will use it to expand our machining program to better serve our partners in business and industry,” Career Center Superintendent Jeremy Corbisello said after the meeting.
This is the first time the career center has been awarded this particular grant.
Fox also said during the meeting that Adult Education will be launching the next LPN to RN Bridge Program in April with 60 students already scheduled to begin.
She added that a Council on Occupational Education (COE) preliminary visit will take place Feb.10. The visit will include a review of the self-study and facilities to ensure readiness, she said.
In other business, the board approved the resignation of Adult Education Instructor Keli Jones; a limited contract for Collin Kinsey to serve as Culinary Careers Instructor; and accepting a $1,000 donation from Strollo Architects that will be used for the Drug Free Team.
Corbisello also took time during the meeting to thank board members for their service as part of Board of Education Appreciation month.
Corbisello presented them with certificates provided by the Ohio School Boards Association for their service during the 2025 school year.
During the 2026 organizational members elected Justin Medure (United) as president and T.K. Hiscox (Lisbon) as Vice President.
