Salem Kiwanis bringing back Fat Tuesday Chef Tasting

SALEM — Salem Kiwanis is hosting a community favorite fundraiser in support of non-profit FreeThree.

Salem Kiwanis held its popular “Fat Tuesday Chef Tasting” fundraiser last year for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, prior to which Kiwanis partnered with Salem Rotary and the Salem Community Center to host Fat Tuesday events for years. According to a press release, the revived favorite will return on Feb. 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. at First Christian Church at 1151 E. Sixth St.

The event will see more than 20 individuals and businesses acting as “celebrity chefs” who will prepare signature food items for attendees to sample. Tickets may be obtained for a suggested donation of $20 each, and entry for kids aged 10 and under is free. Those interested in participating may purchase tickets at Printworks of Salem located at 409 E. Second St. Suite Two, or from any member of Salem Kiwanis.

All proceeds from ticket sales will go to FreeThree a faith-based nonprofit dedicated to serving trafficked, exploited, and at-risk populations in the tri-county area. FreeThree offers education to increase awareness of the realities of human tracking as well as outreach and direct support to human trafficking survivors.

There will also be a basket raffle with proceeds benefiting the Salem Key Club’s “Thirst Project” which works to improve access to clean drinking water in other countries.

Raffle basket donations are being accepted and can be dropped off at Printworks. For additional information, contact FreeThree by phone at 330-402-4804 or at FreeThreeyo.com.

Starting at $2.99/week.
