Suspended Lisbon police officer resigns position

LISBON — A suspended Lisbon police officer is now an ex-Lisbon police officer after Lisbon Village Council voted Tuesday night to accept his resignation.

Council met briefly in executive session regarding employment of a public employee and then returned to open session to accept the resignation of Patrolman Shawn Reynolds, who had been placed on paid suspension on Dec. 29.

In a press release issued by Lisbon Police Chief Mike Abraham last week, Abraham said he “suspended him for Gross Inefficiency, Gross Incompetency, Immoral Conduct, Neglect of Duty, and Conduct Unbecoming an Officer, while the administrative investigation was being conducted.”

After the council meeting, Abraham said that Reynolds “resigned prior to our termination process being completed.”

The news release Abraham issued said that on Dec. 28, an officer from the Lisbon Police Department was contacted by an adult female “stating that Officer Shawn Reynolds was having conversations with a juvenile female after he friend-requested her on Snap Chat. Officer Reynolds was working at the time of the incident and the conversations were sexual in nature.”

Abraham turned the investigation into the allegations over to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force and said the investigation remains pending.

Shawn Reynolds joined the department as a full-time patrolman in September 2024 and previously worked at the Perry Township Police Department as a full-time officer. He is not related in any way whatsoever to Lisbon Police Lt. Jordan Reynolds.

In his letter of resignation, Shawn Reynolds said, “I appreciate the opportunity to work for the village of Lisbon for the past year and a half and learned a great deal in this department. Please let me know if you need any more information going forward and I wish you the best.”

The letter was dated effective Jan. 2.

Starting at $2.99/week.
