Brightside Project to host youth summit

SALEM — Registration is open now for local nonprofit the Brightside Project’s third annual youth summit.

According to a press release, this year’s event will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 14 at the Brightside Project at 1909 North Ellsworth Ave. Interested parents and guardians can register their teens for the event on the Brightside Project’s website at www.brightsideprojectohio.org. Group registration is also available for youth groups, churches, and organizations.

According to the release, this year’s Youth Summit will be “open to all teens and is free to attend thanks to community support, sponsors, and donors.” The annual summit is “a faith-based event designed to encourage, equip, and uplift teenagers in Columbiana and Mahoning County,” and “brings together teens from across the community for a full day of inspirational speakers, praise and worship, leadership development, and activities focused on mental health, character building, and hope.”

As in years past, all attendees will receive free snacks and meals throughout the day as part of Brightside’s commitment to “ensuring that cost is never a barrier to participation.”

“Youth Summit is about showing teens that they are seen, loved, and valued. Our goal is to create a safe and fun environment where students can grow spiritually, emotionally, and socially while being surrounded by positive adult role models,” said Brightside Project Co-Director Lisa Vittorio.
