United school board handles a variety of business items

HANOVERTON — The United Local school board handled a variety of miscellaneous business items Wednesday.

Board members heard an update on the remodeling progress and toured the building. Exterior landscaping work will continue as the weather permits, explained superintendent Lance Hostetler.

The board also accepted donations of $3,760 to the high school senior class, $2,883.65 to the girls track team for the purchase of uniforms, $662 to the Student Initiative Group, and $70 to the district’s backpack and food pantry program as well as approved fundraising drives for the elementary school and the classes of 2027 and 2028.

In addition to non-renewing all their winter coaches, members took no action after an executive session to discuss employment and compensation of a public employee or official.

School board members also approved:

— The resignation of assistant baseball coach Anthony Danko effective Feb. 25.

— A proposal with Four Season Environmental Inc. to provide commissioning services for the district’s pre-K classrooms addition.

— An agreement with ACCESS for application services effective July 1 through June 30, 2027.

— Credit recovery for the 2025-26 school year to Luke Williams, Ann Cooper and Elaine Meals.

— Supplemental contracts for Jason Thompson as an assistant varsity baseball coach as well as Brian Lippiatt Jr. and Jake Marshall as assistant varsity track coaches for the 2025-26 school year. Nome Baker, district marching band director, was awarded a supplemental contract for 2026-27 and the board approved Ann Cope as an athletic worker and Angela Marshall a track volunteer.

The next scheduled board meeting will be held at 7 a.m. April 2 in the administrative conference room.
