Crews respond to incident at Hilcorp
FAIRFIELD TWP. (WKBN) — Crews responded to an incident at a local energy company on Monday.
Firefighters were at Hilcorp Energy Company on Fairfield School Road.
Officials with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources said that a “tank incident” happened at 11:18 a.m. at the Fairfield-Unkefer pad owned by Hilcorp. The agency said that two 500-barrel steel tanks, which hold brine and small amounts of oil and condensate, were impacted.
“It was reported that one tank had a missing top and the other tank ballooned out. The pad has been shut down, Division inspectors are at the site and the investigation is ongoing,” officials said in a statement.
Hilcorp released the following statement on Monday about the incident:
“At approximately 11 a.m. today, there was a pressure event that impacted a tank on a pad in Columbiana County, Ohio. There were no injuries, the site was immediately shut-in, and the site remains secure. Hilcorp is working with the appropriate state and local agencies, and there is no risk to the public.”
