Drivers escape fiery crash in Lisbon

"The car burst into flames," a witness said at the scene.
A Toyota Highlander driven by a woman on West Lincoln Way was traveling east and a box truck with a male driver had entered the intersection from South Lincoln Avenue and the two collided. The woman was pulled out of her burning vehicle by a passerby and helped away from the vehicle by the passerby and a witness.
The witness called 911 and other 911 calls were coming in, with the Lisbon Police, Lisbon Fire Department and NorthStar Critical Care all responding to the scene, along with lots of neighbors in the area looking to see what was happening.
The witness said the woman kept saying she never had a chance to stop.
Lisbon Assistant Fire Chief Gilbert Flory said it's hard to say what caused the vehicle to catch fire so quickly. The witness said there was an explosion. When asked if the vehicle was electric, Flory said it wasn't.
Traffic had to be rerouted until the crash could be cleaned up.
