LISBON — There’s a boil order in effect for residents in the southern area of Lisbon after a contractor hit a 10-inch water line on Grant Street Wednesday across from Pondi’s Restaurant.

Lisbon Water Department Senior Plant Operator Chris Peterson said Wednesday afternoon repairs were being made and the boil order may not expire until the weekend after samples are tested.

Areas affected by the boil order include Black Road, Brookfield Avenue, Hill Street, Jackson Street, Wellsville Avenue, state Route 154 from 39204 to 40952, state Route 45 from 8954 to 9230 and East Washington Street from 500 to 581.

Water should be boiled for at least 5 minutes before being consumed or used for cooking.
