SALEM — The second annual Arby’s Reunion Cruise & Car Show will support The Brightside Project Saturday.

For the second year automotive enthusiasts will look to rekindle the memories of the former Arby’s Cruise gatherings and their guiding spirit of “if it has wheels, bring it!” for a family friendly day car culture supporting a good cause Saturday.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. through 5 p.m. at The Brightside Project, 1909 N. Ellsworth Ave., and promises “a full day of classic cars, cruising, music, food, and fun, all while raising funds to support local children through The Brightside Project’s programs and services,” according to a press release.

Registration for the event begins at 9 a.m. at a cost of $5, and the first 100 participants will receive a commemorative dash plaque. Trophy presentations will begin after 2 p.m. and cruising will continue until 5 p.m. A pancake and sausage breakfast will be available for a $5 donation from 8 a.m. through 1 p.m. The event will also feature a 50/50 raffle, Chinese auction, door prizes, and additional food and drink options after 1 p.m.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to see a piece of American racing history first-hand as Butch “California Flash” Leal’s iconic 1965 Plymouth Belvedere A990 will be on display.

Cruise Director Gene Johnson said that he is hoping to raise $10,000 for The Brightside Project through the event, and that they had already raised $5,350 on May 20.

All proceeds from the event will benefit The Brightside Project and its work to ensure that children in Columbiana County and rural Mahoning County have a safe and healthy childhood while building developmental assets that help them thrive.

“We are incredibly excited to bring the community together again for this special event. Not only is it a chance to celebrate classic cars and reconnect with friends, but every dollar raised helps support local children and families through our programs,” Brightside Project Executive Director Scott Lewis said.

Starting at $2.99/week.
