Columbiana to review ideas for new admin hall
COLUMBIANA — The city is meeting with an architect to review initial ideas for the new city hall and police station.
City Manager Lance Willard said during the recent city council meeting that Strollo Architects will present draft drawings in the near future.
The city is planning to occupy the former #1 Cochran Chevrolet Cadillac Dealership on East Railroad Street.
On another matter, Willard said a bid opening was held for the Fairfield Avenue culvert replacement project and the lowest bidder was Yarian Construction.
“It’s nice to see these projects moving forward. It is a key in that area because we are going to be doing a storm water project in there and also a street renovation,” Willard said.
He also told council that the Columbiana County Tax Incentive Review Committee unanimously voted to renew the commercial and industrial Community Reinvestment Area agreements.
Willard served as chair of the committee upon the request of County Auditor Nancy Milliken.
City council approved a motion to concur with the Tax Incentive Review Committee for renewal of the CRAs.
Council also approved a request from Joyce Alcorn for the annual Poppy Days to be held at Sparkle and Ace Hardware in the city May 22 and May 23, to coincide with the national Poppy Days.
Alcorn said the donations go back to the local American Legion to support local veterans and for care boxes sent overseas.
“We sent 40 care boxes overseas and within the United States. We are doing that again next month,” she said.
