Crestview honors retirees at board meeting
CRESTVIEW — The Crestview Local School District honored several retirees as it closes out the 2025-26 school year.
The retirees were celebrated during the May board of education meeting in which some of their retirement resignations were approved.
“An enormous thank you to the retirees that were listed today and celebrated by our board of education,” District Superintendent Dan Hill said. “Their commitment to their position, the students and the community is appreciated. They all have worked beyond their job requirements and we are better for having them as a part of the Crestview Local School.”
Retirees honored were Michael Best, Mark Fabian, Jill Hall, Christina Labra, and Jamiel Radman.
In other matters, Hill gave an update on the construction project, noting that the fire suppression system installation was to be completed and that all masonry work for concrete block was in progress and veneer and exterior applications were to be completed by the end of May.
He also said the Performing Arts Center will be offline from May 29 until further notice. “This will allow for demo and refinement of the site through completion of the school structure,” he said.
He added that Hammond Construction indicated that the site and earth work will begin at the earliest possible point this summer. The east access road and north parking lot is scheduled for blacktop in November 2026.
The board then approved several matters, including a memorandum of understanding with Megan Shaffer for reduction in force, effective the 2025-27 school year.
Hill explained after the meeting that the RIF is the result of reduced enrollment in kindergarten through second grades.
The board also approved several personnel matters, as well as a health services agreement with Children’s Hospital Medical Center of Akron.
The next meeting was set for 5 p.m. June 10.
