Salem woman arraigned in August attack in Sebring home

YOUNGSTOWN (WKBN) — A Salem woman who was wanted on a warrant for an August attack at a Sebring home was arraigned Tuesday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

Brandice Bettura, 51, pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony; aggravated assault, a fourth-degree felony; and misdemeanor charges of aggravated menacing and criminal damaging.

The case has been assigned to Judge John Durkin. Magistrate Dominic DeLaurentis continued her $25,000 bond pending a bond hearing before Judge Durkin.

A court date was not set at arraignment.

Bettura is accused of using a steel bar about 2:55 a.m. to smash the window of her ex-boyfriend’s house in the 500 block of South 14th Street. Reports said video from the man shows her threatening him and hitting him with the bar.

She was arraigned Aug. 28 in Mahoning County Area Court in Sebring, where her initial bond was set, and the case was bound over Sept. 2 to a Mahoning County grand jury.

Part of her bond mandated that she have no contact with the victim in the case.

She was free on bond Oct. 2 when she was indicted, and a bench warrant was issued for her when she failed to show up for her Oct. 15 arraignment.

Jail records show she was arrested Friday on the warrants.

In court today, Assistant Prosecutor Kristie Weibling asked that Bettura’s bond be continued, saying that Bettura is in violation of her bond by having contact with her victim.

Weibling said the victim filed a police report claiming that Bettura continued to contact him.

Starting at $2.99/week.
