SALEM — A Youngstown favorite restaurant’s new Salem location is open for business.

Kravitz Deli has been operating in Youngstown since 1939 when original owner Rose Kravitz opened the business. In December, owner Matt Rydarowicz, who purchased the business from the Kravitz family in 2022, announced on Facebook he had bought the property at 127 Penn Ave. with the intention of starting a new location in Salem.

The Penn Avenue store is now officially up and running, with Rydarowicz announcing on Wednesday that all the necessary inspections had been completed, and the restaurant could begin to welcome customers.

A “soft opening” was held Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., which Rydarowicz said was to “work out any kinks” before the store’s grand opening today from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
