Perry Township trustees approve retroactive transfer of funds

PERRY TOWNSHIP–The board of trustees gave retroactive approval for a transfer between the township’s accounts in its meeting Monday.

The trustees voted unanimously to retroactively approve the transfer of $15,031.41 from the General Fund to the Police Levy Fund on Dec. 24. Fiscal officer John Volio explained the transfer had previously been approved by trustees, but that an official motion hadn’t been made at the time to do so, necessitating the retroactive approval.

The transfer had been made as the amount of revenue in adult fines collected by the police department, which must be deposited in the general fund by law, exceeded the amount budgeted.

The trustees also approved a routine resolution to exclude the approval of the City of Salem for the approval of an alternative method of apportionment for Local Government Fund monies to be distributed in 2025, which would otherwise be required as the largest city in the county. Trustee Tony Ieropoli said that the resolution was the first of two that the trustees approve each year to receive funding from the Local Government Fund, and that they would need to approve the second resolution to accept the money in their next meeting.

The board of trustees canceled their next regular meeting which would have been held on June 22. The trustees will instead hold a special meeting to approve the township’s cyber security policy and to pass the resolution to accept Local Government Fund money at a date and time which will be announced once they are finalized.

Starting at $2.99/week.
