Perry Township’s new boom mower arrives

Perry Township’s newest addition to its fleet of maintenance equipment, a MowerMax boom mower, has arrived and entered service. Trustee Tony Ieropoli, pictured, said that the MowerMax’s boom arm has a 24-foot reach, three feet longer than the 21-foot reach of the township’s previous John Deere mower. Its mowing arm can also be maneuvered freely to the front and rear rather than being fixed at the side. Ieropoli said that the increased maneuverability will allow the street department to more easily and efficiently complete roadside mowing. He also said that the new mower has lights and reflectors mounted across the entire chassis and rear camera, improving visibility and making it easier and safer for township employees to drive and maneuver while working. As a dedicated mowing machine, the MowerMax doesn’t have equipment hookups at the rear, which Ieropoli explained can obscure the view out of the rear window and limit the driver’s field of view in a conventional tractor.
