Salem received a large donation of American flags from Operation Flags of Freedom Founder Steve Toohey. The flags are set to be hung throughout the city by City Electrician Scott Devan ahead of the upcoming grand parade on July 3 as part of Salem’s ongoing celebration of the United States semiquincentennial. City Councilwoman and Salem U.S. 250 Liaison Sara Baer, right, said that Toohey has been collaborating with the Salem 250 committee for over a year, and had also decorated Lincoln Plaza on June 19 in preparation for the parade.
