The United Quilt Guild’s 14th Biennial Quilt Show displayed 113 quilts submitted across 12 categories at the Salem Centerplex Friday and Saturday. The quilts were judged this year by National Association of Certified Quilt Judges Certified Judge Lisa Schreck and Judge-in-Training Connie Duffey with a first, second, and third place selected in each of the 12 categories and honorable mentions as applicable. Overall superlatives were also awarded for best of show, best hand quilting, best machine quilting, best use of embellishment, best original, best use of color, and a judge’s choice from each judge. Attendees were also invited to vote for their personal favorite quilt, with the entry receiving the most votes named Viewer’s Choice at the end of the weekend. As always, a portion of the proceeds generated by the quilt show will be donated to an area non-profit, with The Brightside Project being selected as this year’s recipient. (Photos by Morgan Ahart)
