Crestview looking at applicants for maintenance supervisor

COLUMBIANA — The Crestview Local School District is considering applicants for a new maintenance supervisor following the retirement of Jay Radman.

Radman worked for the district for 28 years and had 33 total years of experience in school maintenance, District Superintendent Daniel Hill said.

The district has received 18 applicants for the open position and Hill said interviews are currently being conducted.

In other matters, the board of education hired a new high school science teacher during the regular June meeting.

High School Principal Caleb Crowl said that new hire Derek Joy formerly taught for the Lisbon David Anderson Jr/Sr High School and had five total years of teaching experience.

Joy also previously coached multiple sports during his time with Lisbon and Jackson Milton schools.

Joy was given a one year limited contract for the 2026-27 school year.

Crowl also told the board that the majority of high school students scored proficient on the spring state tests given for the 2026 school year, with overall tests results landing about 14 percent above the state average for all subjects tested.

In other matters, the board also approved several personnel matters, including supplemental contracts for the upcoming school year, the five-year financial forecast, and other routine items.

The next meeting was set for 5 p.m. July 13.
