LISBON – Maps of Lisbon’s downtown are popping up around the village to promote local businesses and give first time visitors an idea what to find.

Members of the Lisbon Business Cooperative paid for the maps, a tool that many cities use.

“The idea was to promote businesses in the downtown,” said Lisbon Mayor Peter Wilson. “First time visitors to the village don’t know about all of the businesses we have. We hope this map will encourage them to explore what we have.”

The map was designed by local artist Craig Wetzel. Businesses are color coded according to function: restaurants, retail, services and government.

Source Gallery owner Mark Hamilton said the map idea came of informal meetings on how village businesses could help each other.

“This will be a great resource for visitors to Lisbon to find downtown businesses like the Source Gallery,” Hamilton said.

Starting at $3.75/week.
