LISBON -- The preliminary hearing in the felony domestic violence case against former Liverpool Township police chief Jayson W. Jackson set for Aug. 3 has been moved to 1 p.m. Aug. 17.
Chris Amato, the defense attorney retained by Jackson, requested the new hearing date due to a scheduling conflict. Jackson, 53, Campground Road, Wellsville was charged with a fourth-degree felony domestic violence charge for allegedly punching a woman several times during a domestic which started Sunday night.
He was released from the county jail Monday after posting bond, which was set at $30,000 cash or surety. A condition of bond requires him to have no contact by any means with the victim, who was the same victim from two previous cases involving Jackson for assault amended from domestic violence and for criminal damaging.
Liverpool Township Police were called to East Liverpool City Hospital on Monday to speak with a victim of a possible domestic dispute and learned she was allegedly assaulted by Jackson, who was accused of grabbing and pulling her hair, grabbing her hair a second time, calling her obscenities and punching her on the left side of the face several times and continuing to punch her hand and arm when she covered her head with her hand.
