LISBON -- Columbiana County Health Commissioner Dr. Wes Vins said Tuesday the county health district can serve the needs of all residents for vaccines, including back-to-school vaccines and the MMR vaccine for measles.
"To meet the Back-to-School vaccine demand and to support the measles outbreak response, the Columbiana County Health District (CCHD) in Lisbon has recently opened additional vaccine clinics for uninsured children and patients covered by private insurance and Medicaid. Through VaxCare and the VFC (Vaccines for Children) program, we currently have adequate vaccine supply for back-to-school needs, including the critical MMR vaccine that protects against measles," Vins announced.
Anyone needing vaccines should call the county health district at 330-424-0272 to make an appointment.
"As a nationally accredited agency, the professional and friendly staff of CCHD are eager to help meet the vaccine needs of the community including Salem and East Liverpool," Vins wrote.
With the measles outbreak in the United States and Ohio, he said this is a critical time.
Columbiana County has not had any measles cases, but he said regionally there are cases.
In light of a recent story about the Salem City Health Department having an availability issue with some vaccines, the county health district wanted to make sure people are aware they can come to Lisbon, with private pay, insurance, Medicaid and the uninsured all able to be served, whether they live in the district, Salem or East Liverpool.
The county health district headquarters is located at 7360 state Route 45, Lisbon.
