COLUMBIANA -- The City of Columbiana is announcing an extension for the completion of the ongoing Court-Herbster stormwater improvement project.
The project was originally scheduled for completion on Aug. 22. During construction, several field conditions were identified that required adjustments to the original project plan and scope of work. The city and its project team determined that allowing additional time would provide the contractor with the opportunity to properly address those conditions and complete the project to the standards expected by the city.
As a result, the city has approved an extension to the project completion date. The additional time is intended to accommodate the necessary field changes and allow the remaining work to be completed properly.
"We appreciate the patience and cooperation of our residents throughout this project," said City Manager Lance Willard. "Stormwater projects can present unforeseen conditions once construction is underway, and in this case, we felt it was important to allow the contractor adequate time to make the necessary adjustments and finish the project correctly rather than rushing the work to meet the original date."
The new completion date for the project is Sept. 30. The city will continue to monitor the work closely and will provide additional updates as the project nears a conclusion.
The city has appreciated the cooperation of residents, property owners, and the contractor throughout the project and looks forward to bringing this important stormwater project to a successful close.
