SMITH TWP. (WKBN) -- A man is facing felony charges after police say he abused a person associated with a facility for developmentally disabled adults during a visit with family.

Glenn Martin III, of Alliance, is facing charges of patient abuse, a third-degree felony, and caretaker assault on a functionally impaired person, a fourth-degree felony.

The charges come as a release from the Smith Township Police Department says that on July 1, a resident who received services from an in-home care company was found with multiple severe bruises across her body. The release said she was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Police conducted an investigation with staff of the healthcare company, the victim and members of the victim's family, the release said, and identified Martin as responsible for the injuries. The release says at the time of the incident, Martin was visiting from out of state and was residing with the victim and her family.

Court records show Martin is also facing a fifth-degree felony charge of theft from July 1 in the same case.

Martin is scheduled to be arraigned in Sebring Municipal Court Thursday morning.
