Freed Fest returned Saturday to celebrate the musical legacy of the late great Alan Freed, a Salem High School alumni who coined and popularized the term rock and roll music. The annual event provided a slate of live musical performances downtown and a special panel where acclaimed music professionals Leland Sklar, Nic Collins, David Santos, Paul Quin and Rick Dejonge discussed the music industry at the Salem High School, all at no cost. During the seminar they discussed the role of music in people's lives as a universal language which unifies people in an age of increasing division. Christine Ohlman of Saturday Night Live fame was initially slated to participate in the panel as well but was unable to attend due to transportation issues. (Photos by Morgan Ahart)
