BELOIT -- An arrest has been made in the threat against Knox school last month.
In a letter to parents Friday night, West Branch Schools Superintendent Matthew Manley said an arrest for terroristic threats, a third-degree felony, had been made that day by local law enforcement.
The name of the individual could not be confirmed before press time Friday night.
Manley assured families that measures are being taken to ensure student and staff safety.
"While an arrest has been made, we recognize that this situation has understandably caused concern for our families and staff," he said "We want you to know that we will continue to take every reasonable precaution to provide a safe and secure environment for our students and staff."
Manley said a law enforcement officer will remain stationed at the Knox building from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Sept. 11. Beginning the week of Sept. 14, school will return to its regular law-enforcement presence and schedule at the building.
"Our safety procedures and plans will continue to be reviewed and followed, and we will remain in close communication with our law enforcement partners," Manley said.
The district closed the building Aug. 26 through 28 after a threat of violence was posted online during the evening hours of Aug. 25. The Sebring Police Department contacted Manley about the threats after the department received information from the National Threat Operations Center.
Manley confirmed during an interview with this paper three comments had been made on unrelated YouTube videos stating that the commenter "wanted to shoot up Knox."
