SEBRING (WKBN) -- There were some power concerns Monday at the Mahoning County Court in Sebring.
Judge Joe Schiavone reached out to WKBN and said FirstEnergy came to the court with a shutoff notice and handed it over to the staff. They said the Mahoning County Clerk of Courts hasn't paid the power bill for months.
FirstEnergy says the power will remain on inside the court, but they do need paid.
"So that's how we found out. So I am looking at it. The shutoff notice was presented, and it said that it was going to get shut off today at 11:46 a.m., but they gave a grace period because they said 'Oh, we realize it's a court and we realize you need power. Tell the clerk of courts to pay it.' I mean, the customer name on here is Mahoning County Clerk of Courts, we have no notice," Schiavone said.
FirstEnergy said the bill hasn't been paid since May 29. Schiavone says he's very concerned over this situation.
"They said the bill hasn't been paid since May the 29th. So, obviously, three and a half months have gone by, almost four months have gone by without a payment made. So, all we're asking for is the bill to get paid. This is one of the, 'If this isn't getting done, I'm very concerned about what's going on in the Clerk of Court's Office, because this is the most simple task possible," Schiavone said.
WKBN went to the Mahoning County Clerk's office, and no one would provide an update.
