COLUMBIANA -- Of the 259 Open Doors America 250 events happening in the state this weekend, three will be happening in Columbiana County.
Deb Himes, Joyce Allcorn and Susan Drotleff of the Columbiana and Fairfield Township Historical Society visited city council earlier this month to discuss the organization's efforts.
They said the historical society will host the local Open Doors America 250 event this Sunday from 2-4 p.m.
It is one of the three happening in Columbiana County, with the other two to take place in East Liverpool.
The event is free to the public and features special tours and programs, as well as new displays.
The state-wide event takes place every other year and is sponsored by the Ohio History Connection and partner organizations, including America 250 Ohio.
Himes, Allcorn and Drotleff also presented city council with a print of the Historic Stick Chapel to put on display in the municipal building.
They said there are additional prints for sale for $25 with the funds going to the city's fund for upkeep.
"To resurrect this building that was built is 1890 is very, very important. The work that you folks have done is tremendous and we really appreciate it. It adds to the beauty of the cemetery," Mayor Rick Noel said.
